Well i had a go with vista and the new DirectX 10 i was not all that impressed by it and after havening vista installed for about 4 hrs i all ready run in to a problem,My control panel decide to stop working i could not access it through any thing icon menus and so on. I decided to have a Google and found this,

1) Launch services.msc from a run command
2) Find the SLUNotify service & stop it
3) Find the Software Licensing service & stop it (it may say that ReadyBoost needs that service to run; stop it anyway)
4) Restart both services, starting with Software Licensing

This fixed the problem for the time but it is not a full fix so i decided to make sure the system was fully up to date, it was.

So i still search for a full fix on that,All so Firefox constantly crashes.
And not to mention a update error i had, a fix can be found for that windowshelp.microsoft....61033.mspx

Well i think i will have to return to xp for some gaming.
Nothing beats my Gentoo Linux system i well recommend that Smile

Ive been running vista for a few months, i brought the full Home premium for just £80 Laughing . I sent away though and got the x64 disk. Anyways i do know what you mean about the control panel issue, i had it when i was running a not so legit version Wink . But havent had the issue with the full retail version. Im sure it can be caused by certain apps that vista just doesn't like. Vista does take some getting used to, but most of the annoying stuff can be turned off and once you get to know it, it's not actually that bad. Anyone remember what xp was like when it first came out, compaired to 2000 that was a reasource hog, but now it's familair and intalled on every serious gaming rig out there, vista will be just the same given time.

Linux rules the roost definatly, if only it had direct x we would all be laughing Smile
