My PNY Geforce 6600 256mb cards cooling just wasn't up to the job.
There aren't many heatsink replacements out there for my card, only one offered by Zalman but due to the lack of funding at the time and needing to get some cooling on the card as soon a possible I decided to make something using the stuff I had laying around
I had some 80mm fans laying around and an old graphics card cooler that I got from maplins many years ago to cool my Geforce 3.
Due to the size of the card I couldn't just fix the cooler to the side of it, I had to bend the mounting bracket and make some hole in the pci cover bracket at the back of the case
As you can see I made a small mistake drilling the holes to mount the fan bracket due to not allowing for the pci slots, but as it isn't visible to any one I didn't bother starting again
Once the drilling was done and the threads make for the screws I moved onto Spray painting the bracket.
My case at the time had one UV cathode I it so I decided that I would get some more for the case later on and use some spray paint I had seen at the local hardware store the day before
Plasti-kote yellow fast dry enamel for £3.32
The two UV green fans were added later. I ordered two 12" UV cathodes and two green UV fans from Ebuyer for a total of £6 odd
Case by night
I through this article together from an old project just so I could get something up to the website
