ACRyan Backy Combo, Conductx Molex Y-Splitter,Conductx 3pin Extension 30cm.

Last week was a great week (20/09/05) for the Hardware Squad as we gained ACRyan as our main sponsors. ACRyan in my eyes is a great company that produces amazing products for the modder, these products give you more time to do the things you want to your case, the things ACRyan can't do for you.

ACRyan Kindly sent me a few of their products to review, I’ve broken them down to two separate reviews, this review covers the cables and in my other review I'll cover the BlackFire 4 UV-LED fans.

First off is the ACRyan Backy

Quote:

Backyâ„¢ is a new system that gets your internal connectors onto the outside - eh, as the name suggests - at the back. Fan power connectors, molex power connectors, ATA data connector, SATA data connectors... now you don't have to open up your casing each time you want to test a fan, or borrow your friend's hard disk!!

Like it says no more opening your case for those tests, hard drive rescues, etc, you name it and you can do it with a Backy. No more opening your case and having to re-arrange everything to find room to put something, find a cable that reaches to that space.

I was sent the Backy Combo, Black ACR-BX3992 which has X2 female Molex external connections and X2 3 pin female fan external connections and a male Molex internal connection.

Now at this point I know what your thinking "what good is that", well to someone like me who has to review fans it's perfect. No longer do I have to pull one of my case fans out to do it, remember ACRyan do a range of Backy's from ATA to SATA which also come in a range of UV colours -so there's no doubt there will be one to suit your needs. Take the X3 Molex Backy, have you ever wanted to hook up a cathode out side of your case? Well the X3 Molex Backy is just right for the job.

Installing is easy, just remove one of your pci back plates push the Backy in and do up, ACRyan even supply a screw just in case.

As you can see in the picture above ACRyan have already put sleeving onto the cables so you don't have a worry about spending time doing it yourself and maybe making a hash of it like I did with the MORF kit. . It saved me from burning my finger again LOL

As you can see it makes it look neat and tidy inside and out.

The Backy Combo, Black ACR-BX3992 is a great product, it's perfect for my needs so I give it a 10 out of 10.

Head over to ACRyan's Backy page to see if they have one for you

Next up is the Conductx Molex Y-Spliter , 3xUVLED, UVgreen ACR-CB4364

Luckily ACRyan sent me one of these as well; due to the fact that my QTEC psu has a lack of Molex connections I wouldn't have been able to hook the Backy up. Looking at the picture above it looks no different from any plain Molex Y-splitter.

If you look closely you'll see that each connection has a UV-LED on it and the green is UV reactive.

As you can see the UV-LED's are extremely bright and it took several goes to get a good picture as my camera just couldn't handle the light coming out of these LED's.

Here you can see the results of the LED’s in the dark; these first two pictures are with my VU cathodes on. As you can see the LED’s out do the cathodes.

I decided to turn off my UV cathodes to see how much light was being put out my just the LED’s. Here are the results:

The Conductx Molex Y-Spliter , 3xUVLED, UVgreen ACR-CB4364 is much better than a plain old Molex Y-splitter and it's lighted up part of my case that wasn't getting any light to it. ACRyan do a range of these in different colours lengths and connection types. Take a look at the pictures below, on the left is a Y-splitter I made using the MORF kit and on the right is the ACRyan one

Again I have to give this 10 out of 10, as the ACRyan version is much neater than my attempt plus theirs has UV-LED's on.

And on to the last review, the Conductx 3pin Extension 30cm, 2xUVLED, UVblue ACR-CB4418.

Quote:

Extends the fan 3pin power for you to reach those further away fans.
- 1x Fan 3pin Female to 1x Fan 3pin Male
- all connectors Connectx UVBlue
- sleeved with FlexSleeve UVBlue
- with 2x built-in UVLED that lights up each connector

I don't need to explain much more than what's said above. This cable is ideal for when you have a fan that you want to connect to your motherboards fan head and be able to check the fans speed but it does reach due to its position in the case, at some point we’ve all been there and we’ve either ended up making a cable or just not bothered.

Again ACRyan have placed UV-LED's on each end on the cable and it has their UV reactive sleeving on it making it look neat and tidy.

I'm not going to score this yet as I have plans for it in a up and coming mod, I will return later after I have done the mod and score it on how well it played as part of the mod. I did however rig it up to my Backy to see what the UV-LED's on it were like and to make sure it was working.

As you can see by the photo the UV-LED's are extremely bright on this cable as well and it took me several goes to get a good picture.

Then I hooked up a fan I had kicking around to check that it all work as should be. I had to use a white blanket and the flash on so I could get a good photo.

I had the same problems getting a good photo of it when it went dark, the camera and the LED’s brightness wasn’t a good combination. Here in the only good photo I could get you can see how bright the LED’s are.

I'm pretty impressed with the Conductx 3pin Extension 30cm, 2xUVLED, UVblue ACR-CB4418 so far and I'm hoping it will look good in my up and coming mod. As soon as I've done my mod then I will update this review with a score, I'll put an article up on the site of the mod so you'll get to see what part it played.

I've have to say I am impressed with all the ACRyan products I reviewed on this page and I'm not just saying that because ACRyan sponsor us. If I found a problem or criticism toward the products I would say, I would have also emailed ACRyan straight away to point out any short falls I found so that they could rectify it.
